Council hold Chinese visit

THE Midland Hotel was one of the highlights of a recent visit to the district by a delegation from the Chinese Consulate General in Manchester.

Lancaster City Council hosted the visit with Chinese Consul General Pan Yundong, his wife Consul Zhu Yu and Consul Zhao Jixian, as part of its developing relationship with the consulate, aimed at strengthening links between the Lancaster district and China.

Lancaster’s Mayor Coun Sheila Denwood, the leader of Lancaster City Council Eileen Blamire and chief executive Mark Cullinan were joined at the Midland by English Lakes Hotels group marketing manager Colin Fox who provided the visitors with a tour of the iconic building on July 10.

Coun Eileen Blamire, leader of Lancaster City Council, said: “We were delighted to host this visit by the Consul General and I am sure our relationship and links with China will be developed further.”

Consul General Pan, said: “We are happy to see that the friendly relations between Lancaster and China are growing and widening. The Chinese Consulate General in Manchester is ready to work closely with Lancaster City Council to further promote the relations.”
