One of Morecambe’s most iconic pubs could be set for new owners and a £375,000 facelift.
Top pub chain Amber Taverns have put in an offer to buy the former Ma Murphy’s Irish Pub on Lines Street.
Gary Roberts, operations director at Amber Taverns, said the deal is subject to licensing approval.
Mr Roberts said the building would remain as a community pub but the name would be changed and a major internal refurbishment is planned.
The Blackpool-based pub company recently announced plans to open up to 15 new pubs a year nationwide after securing a £24million funding deal with Lloyds bank.
Ma Murphy’s closed in May after landlord Colin Smith left due to financial problems and the pub was repossessed.
Prior to Mr Smith taking over in 2004, the premises was known as the Bull Hotel.
