The latest jewel in Morecambe’s social Crown has enjoyed a successful opening weekend.
The refurbished Crown Hotel has opened as a modern new bar and bistro and has earned early plaudits from customers.
The ground floor of the seafront premises, formerly the hotel reception, has been overhauled with new internal wall brickwork and flooring, and a swish new bar and seating.
And after two ‘soft opening’ nights for invited guests on Thursday and Friday, followed by an official opening night on Saturday, the new Crown is already proving to be a popular venue in the town for drinks and food.
“It was absolutely heaving,” said Martin Thomas, who was at the opening night on Saturday.
“It was a great atmosphere too, they had a singer on, and there was a nice clientele in there.”
The Crown was also busy on Sunday afternoon and early evening, where a three-course menu including a Sunday roast beef dinner proved extremely popular.
The Crown is owned by the O’Hagan family, who also own the Royal Bar on Marine Road Central.
The new manager is Liam Broster, formerly of the Hest Bank Hotel.
Head chef is Gavin Riley, who previously worked at the Lothersdale Hotel in Morecambe and the Water Witch and Wagon and Horses pubs in Lancaster.
