A teenager is recovering after he was knocked down by a car on Torrisholme Road.

The 17-year-old boy was struck by the vehicle at the new zebra crossing near Noel Road just before 8.45am on Thursday morning.

His father later posted on Facebook that his son was “battered and bruised but otherwise OK” and thanked passers-by for helping.

A police spokesman said the woman driving the car “stopped to ask if the boy was OK” following the incident. She then left the scene when he said he was fine.

An ambulance was called but the boy did not require hospital treatment.
