A leading clergyman spent his first day on the job at a memorial to the Morecambe Bay cockling tragedy.

The Rt Revd Julian Henderson, the new Bishop of Blackburn, visited our town on Saturday when he joined an international congragation who prayed at the plaque near Morecambe lifeboat station.

They prayed for all who work in the bay and remembered those who lost their lives in the tragedy in February 2004, and those who seek to assist.
