The Union flag was flying from Morecambe Town Hall in time for Armistice Day – after a member of the public and The Visitor rang Lancaster City Council to remind them.
Council staff had forgotten to place the Union flag atop the town hall until Bob Graham from Scale Hall phoned to complain on Monday.
The Visitor also called the council and within minutes, the flag was in place.
A council spokesman said: “The main focus for our staff was the preparation for the Remembrance Day service which took place at the town’s war memorial and for which a flag was provided. However, this reason does not excuse the omission for which we apologise.”
