MORECAMBE’S first ever beer festival took place over the weekend.

The event at The Winter Gardens, organised by the Lunesdale branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), was supported by a host of local businesses.

Fifty local, regional and national brews were on offer, alongside eight real ciders and two perrys. George Palmer, event co-ordinator, said: “I have been overwhelmed by the support we have had for this festival from within the CAMRA branches and from local businesses.

“Cross Bay Brewery provided a special beer for us, and Morecambe Bay Wines and Mitchell’s have been particularly supportive.

“The York Hotel provided the committee with a meeting space.

“The Trustees and Friends of the Winter Gardens modified their renovation work to make sure the theatre was ready for us.”

The festival supported the RNLI and Winter Gardens charities.
