CAR parking charges and council house rents are set to rise – but at least our swimming pools will be staying open.

se decisions were made at a crunch meeting where Lancaster City Council cabinet members backed plans for the district’s 2011/12 budget.

Council house rents will rise by an average of 6.9 per cent from April, despite opposition from two Green councillors who said the hike – nearly double the 3.7 per cent rate of consumer price inflation – was too excessive.
