Appeal for witnesses after Dalton Square accident

A woman was hit by a bus in Lancaster city centre on Monday afternoon.

The 61-year-old, who suffered a serious head injury, was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary before being transferred to Royal Preston Hospital where her condition is described as critical.

The accident, which happened on the A6 Great John Street, Lancaster near to its junction with Gage Street in Dalton Square just before 4pm on Monday, led to both lanes of the A6 being closed close to the scene.

A diversion was in place via Moor Lane and Bulk Road while police dealt with the incident.

Sgt Rob Gomery, of West Division Road Policing Unit, said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this accident and I would urge them to get in touch with the police.”
