Move over The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl, Shakin’ Stevens and Cliff Richard, because this year Morecambe has its own classic Christmas song.

TV host Paul Hayes and his pal Steve ‘Golly’ Goulding have written a charity track called ‘Credit Card Christmas’.

And Heysham fundraiser Tony Smart MBE will be getting in the musical spirit on the CD front cover, dressed as Santa!

Paul, famed as the antiques expert on BBC’s Cash in the Attic, and ‘Golly’ intend to release the rock ‘n’ roll number in time for the festive season. Proceeds will go to AGE UK and the record will be sold in their charity shops throughout the country.

Paul and ‘Golly are bandmates in rock ‘n’ roll group The Paul Hayes Collection. They are both in the antiques business and have known each other since the TV personality was a boy.

“We have been in the studio to record and it’s turned out pretty good,” said ‘Golly’.

‘Golly’ has also recorded a jazz version of ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ and donated it to Morecambe FC to be played at home matches.
