Fixing oil leaks in dirty overalls is about as far removed from sophisticated 1930s glamour as you can get. But car mechanic Annia Zalewski likes nothing better than dressing up in vintage fashions when she clocks off from the world of engines and gear boxes.
The 23-year-old from Bolton-le-Sands is a huge fan of the vintage scene and can’t wait for this Saturday’s Vintage-by-the-Sea festival.
“I think it will do Morecambe the world of good, the town needs a good kick up the backside now and again,” she said.
“I’ll be there for the majority of it, I would think, probably dancing in a corner!”
Annia, who will soon start a new job restoring classic Porsches, is hooked on the music of Glenn Miller and Joe Loss and the beautiful clothes of a bygone age.
“I’ve just bought a Victorian nightie which must be over 100 years old, but the fabric is better than anything these days.
“I wouldn’t wear my vintage clothes to work though, the oil would be a nightmare to wash out!”
