LANCASTER City Council is issuing advice for elderly people following an incident in Morecambe when a 98-year-old woman was targeted by men claiming to be council workers.

A spokesperson said: “All council staff carry identity cards bearing a photo and phone number for verification purposes and are more than happy for residents unsure about the legitimacy of their visit to contact the council using the number provided - 01524 582000.

“Our advice to all residents is to be aware of bogus callers - Stay Safe and Secure.”
