MORECAMBE produced a superb defensive display to pick up a fine point at the Prostar Stadium.
The Shrimps held firm against the team with the best home record in League 2 and extended their unbeaten run to 12 games.
In a game of few chances Shrewsbury came closest to taking all three points with an effort from Chris Humphrey on 22 minutes when he cut inside from the right wing and curled a superb left foot effort inches wide of the right hand post.
Prolific striker Grant Holt was guilty of missing the game's best chance on the stroke of half time when he beat the offside flag to run through on goal but shot straight at Morecambe keeper Barry Roche.
Morecambe produced some good moments themselves with Neil Wainwright drilling an effort wide on 11 minutes and Wayne Curtis choosing to pass to his right when it would have been better to shoot.
Curtis was denied for a second time a few moments later by keeper Luke Daniel before the Shrimps were forced to soak up some intense late pressure.
Roche was forced into a fine low save from Steve Leslie's long range free kick and the Shrimps held on for another excellent point.
