The Shrimps suffered a heavy defeat at Valley Parade this afternoon despite dominating the game for long periods.

Paul McLaren scored against the run of play on 24 minutes for the home side after the Shrimps failed to clear a long ball into the box and the former Tranmere man took advantage with the finish from six yards.

The rest of the half however belonged to Morecambe wuith Danny Carlton missing a golden chance in injury when he missed the target from two yards out.

Carlton also missed a good opening after five minutes when he was through on goal but saw his effort beaten down by Matt Clarke.

In between Nicky Laws saw a long-range effort tipped away by Barry Roche in a rare threatening moment for the Bantams.

The second half began with Morecambe on top again with Carlton forcing Rhys Evans into a save from a close range shot but then the Shrimps conceded a second goal on the break allowing Michael Boulding a free run on goal and he made no mistake.

Nicky Law made it 3-0 with a quality finish on 77 minutes and Barry Conlan rounded off the afternoon for the home side with a penalty four minutes from time.

As expected Sammy McIlroy named the same starting line-up for the fourth consecutive game.

Morecambe: Roche; Yates, Bentley, McStay, Adams, Wainwright; Stanley, Drummond, McLachlan (rep Twiss 70); Howe, Carlton. Subs: Edge, Artell, Taylor, Carr.

Bradford: Evans, Arnison, Lee, Clarke, O'Brien, Jones, Law, McLaren, Furman (rep Nix 83), Michael Boulding (rep Daley 68), Conlon. Subs: Bower, Moncur, R Boulding.

Att: 13,105 (407 from Morecambe).
