THE Shrimps made it six games unbeaten as they sunk the Shots at the Rec on Saturday.
Sammy McIlroy's side picked up their third – and most convincing – away win of the season with a stylish performance against a team who had lost just two home games all season before Saturday.
The win helped Morecambe extend their best-ever run of unbeaten games since joining the Football League in 2007, beating the previous best of three set on numerous occasions last year.
And it is a run that has delighted McIlroy as it has come in the middle of what he has described as his worst ever injury crisis since joining the Shrimps.
To make matters even worse on Saturday, Neil Wainwright fought through the pain barrier after dislocating a toe after only 10 minutes and Henry McStay, who was named as a substitute, was forced to sit in the stand after falling ill on Friday night in the team hotel.
With Rene Howe also clearly not fully fit, McIlroy was full of praise for his side saying: "It was a great result and I thought we deserved it from the first whistle.
"We were in control throughout and it is really pleasing to keep a clean sheet.
"When you consider the amount of goals Aldershot have been scoring, that clean sheet is a real achievement."
From the start, Morecambe looked the more adventurous side and they produced the early pressure with Wayne Curtis fizzing a shot wide from the edge of the area on eight minutes after a great run.
Chances were few and far between from there with Aldershot, and the home fans, strangely subdued with the Shots producing little until Marvin Morgan found himself in space but shot straight at Barry Roche on 38 minutes.
To make matters worse for the Shots, the Shrimps then took the lead on the stroke of half-time.
Dave Artell sparked the move with a ball for Michael Twiss down the right. His cross was met by Rene Howe and although his shot was well saved by Alex McCarthy, Curtis was on hand to volley home his third goal in three games.
The Shrimps then killed the game off with a superb second goal from Stewart Drummond on 54 minutes.
A poor Aldershot clearance found Drummond 35 yards out and he tried his luck with a shot that flew past McCarthy who seemed to misjudge the flight of the ball.
Aldershot briefly threatened to reply when on the hour, Reading loanee Scott Davies curled a free-kick just wide and Kirk Hudson forced Roche to save low down after meeting Andy Sandell's near post cross.
The Shrimps had a golden chance to add to their advantage eight minutes from time when substitute Diarmuid O'Carroll was put through on goal but was denied by a good save from McCarthy, who made up for his earlier error.
