WORK has started on Morecambe FC's new stadium at Westgate.
The club is due to move to the new 7,000 capacity home for the start of the 2010/11 season, with Sainsbury's having bought the current Christie Park ground on which they hope to build a new store.

Visitor editor, Glen Cooper, met Morecambe's director in charge of the new stadium development, Brian Fagan, to check on progress.

By 'eck digger you're a cheery lad!

Talk about looking on the negative side! (Is he always like this?)

Don't remember anyone saying there would be hundreds of local jobs at the new stadium - show us where they said it.

But there will be some when they start construction work. Whether they're 'local' depends on who wins the tenders - that's business. But even if it's a company from outside the area they'd be daft not to employ local workers, cutting down on transport costs.

Then there will be new jobs at the new stadium - and also loads at the new Sainsbury's.
