MORECAMBE boss Sam-my McIlroy secured one of his young players for a further year this week.
And the club has bid for a new striker as well as being close to a deal to bring in a new right-sided defender.

Young striker Aaron Taylor signed a new one-year contract on Monday.

And the former academy player, 19, enjoyed a promising start to his first team career with a brace in the FA Cup victory over Grimsby and also scored on his full debut in a 1-1 draw with Rochdale in October.

McIlroy said: "Aaron did very well and showed he is a natural goalscorer."

Morecambe were hopeful of securing a new right-back this week, with discussions said to be progressing very well.

And a bid has been submitted for a striker.
