MORECAMBE FC officials were working hard behind the scenes this week to bring a new striker and a right full-back to the club.
The club has been in discussion with the striker for a few weeks and say terms have been agreed.
He's described as an exciting young prospect whose scoring exploits have already attracted interest from higher league clubs.
Morecambe is not the
only club tracking him but officials have pursued him more persistently than others and offered him a real prospect of first team football.
The full-back would come with good experience, including at a higher level, and if the deal is finalised would turn down a new contract offer at his current club to join the Shrimps.
Vice-chairman Graham Hodgson has met with the players' agents and said he was confident the deals could be signed, pending medicals, at the beginning of next week.
He told The Visitor: "Talks have gone well and we'll be looking to get both players here early next week to sign them both at the same time.
"Nothing's certain, of course, until the paperwork is done but it's looking very positive."
If the signings are secured The Visitor understands manager Sammy McIlroy would still be looking to bring in a more experienced striker before the start of the season.
The 2009/10 fixture list has given Morecambe home games for their first and last matches in their historic last ever season at Christie Park.
Hereford United, who dropped down after a season in League One, will visit for the opening fixture and Aldershot Town, promoted from the Conference last year, will be the opponents for the last game of the season (play-offs pending).
