A RUGBY League legend will be in Morecambe next week.
Great Britain's joint record cap holder Garry Schofield will hand out the end-of-season awards at Heysham Atoms' presentation night at the Trimpell Club on Saturday, July 4.
Schofield won 46 caps between 1984 and 1994 and lined up against Australian greats such as Mal Meninga and Wally Lewis on his international debut as an 18-year- old.
At club level he excelled for Hull and Leeds as well as Balmain Tigers and Western Suburbs in the Winfield Cup.
Heysham Atoms' evening starts around 6.30pm for a sausage sizzle with the awards being given out between 8 and 8.30pm, followed by a question and answer session with Garry Schofield.
n The Atoms have now started their pre-season training with some gruelling sessions on the sands in front of the Eric Morecambe statue and on the Heysham Barrows.
If anyone is interested in trying out rugby league, get in touch with Dave Crow on 07966 322864 or Andy Helme on 07917 011172.
n In conjunction with the RFL, the Heysham Atoms are running two coach trips to the Four Nation Internationals in the autumn. Everyone who travels with the club also gets a new Puma England shirt free from the RFL.
On October 31 Atoms are going to watch England v Australia at Wigan and on the November 14 it's the Four Nations Final at Elland Road.
The cost of the trips (two match tickets, transport to both games and free England shirt) is £85 (concessions) and £100 (adults). Children are welcome. If you'd like to book your place, a £20 deposit per person is required.
