TWO STRIKES from goal-king Jordan Connerton assured the Dolly Blues of three points t Garforth and fired them into third place in the Unibond First Division North.

Connerton smashed his 16th and 17th goals in a great City victory, the score-line s
ays it was close; in reailty the Dolly Blues could and should have been more comfortable.

Two defensive lapses allowed the home side to score with there only two shots of the game, Connerton's white hot form in front of goal more than made up for it.

After Fidel Mhlolo had swept home a corner, unmarked at the back post, Connerton signalled his intent; he forced the home 'keeper into a stunning save from a powerful header.

On 37 minutes he found the net, this time his header from a Mike Rushton cross was unstoppable.

Despite having most of the possession and attacking intent; Chris Ward, Roger Sharrocks and Paul Jarvis all had shots from range, City found themselves 2-1 down at the break.

Michael Stringfellow was caught in possession at right-back position by Darren Thornton, who powered on and unleashed a corking shot into the top corner.

Immediately after the re-start parity was restored. Connerton has been a thorn in the side of every back four he has come up against so far this term, after Garforth's hapless quartet did not clear a long ball he gratefully nipped in, rounded the 'keeper and finished with ease.

Just seven minutes later and Sharrock edged City ahead, his initial half-volley was blocked and delivered kindly back to him to try again, that he did. Although his squirted effort should have been saved by Garforth stopper Craig Ellison it was a deserved goal.

City happily camped in their opponents half for the remainder of the game, though they were nearly made to pay for their unwillingness to kill off the game as the home side countered, fortunately to little effect.
