WE'RE proud of Morecambe and we think it's about time we shouted about it.
The Visitor has been proud to serve the people of the town since our first edition in 1874.

Week by week over the decades since then, we've brought you and your parents and grandparents the news – good, bad, significant, trivial but interesting, fascinating and funny.

We've been here through the many good times the town has enjoyed and we've tried to make sense of the bad times.

But we've always had PRIDE IN MORECAMBE.

And now, with major improvements being witnessed and more being anticipated – as countless observers locally, regionally, nationally and internationally are testifying – there's plenty to be proud about.

There's still a way to go and there are still issues to tackle but things are happening and happening fast.

WHAT MAKES YOU PROUD OF MORECAMBE? LEAVE A COMMENT ON THIS STORY NOW.

Working together we can see even more good times ahead for Morecambe – building on the framework of the glorious setting our geography has bestowed upon us.

Too many times in the past the negatively-inclined moaners and nit-pickers have done their best to talk down our town. It's time those who love Morecambe had their say.

The Visitor is launching a major 'Pride in Morecambe' campaign, encouraging everyone who lives or works here, who visits our town for leisure or has moved away but still loves the place, to contribute to the 'feel-good' factor we've been witnessing these past few months and years.

We want to stress the positive and help the town we love to flourish and grow – and we want your help.

Tell us about the 'good' things happening in the town and we'll share the news with other readers under the 'Pride in Morecambe' banner.
Let us know why you share our 'Pride in Morecambe'.
Is it:
* The helpful people in your neighbourhood?
* Friendly staff at a local shop?
* A bracing walk along the newly re-modelled prom?
* The amazing view across the bay?
* The growing reputation of our football team?
* The welcome you received when you first moved here?

Whatever it is that gives you 'Pride in Morecambe', we want to hear about it. Just drop us a line telling us why you have 'Pride in Morecambe'.

And whatever good deeds or success stories you come across, we want to know about those as well.

We'll cover as much as we can over coming weeks and months as we all share together our 'Pride in Morecambe'.

Although I don't (yet) live in Morecambe, as a family we spend a lot of time there and love it. The view across the bay cannot be beaten anywhere. The locals are friendly and helpful. The walk along the prom from Heysham to Morecambe is brilliant. I love all the little historical facts and gems embedded in the surface. We've just had a most enjoyable weekend with a concert at the Dome followed by fireworks and then the car rally and air display the following day. Now looking forward to staying in the newly refurbished Midland Hotel.
