ONE of the police officers who handled Lancashire's accident investigation and vehicle recovery service is to appear in court and may be charged with misconduct in public office.
The court appearance of Sgt James Alan Boothby, 48, at Liverpool Magistrates on Monday, June 29, follows an investigation managed by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

The summons relates to an investigation into how a vehicle sales and disposal contract was awarded when Sgt Boothby was working in his role as a Vehicle Recovery Liaison Officer for Lancashire Constabulary.

A file was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service who decided it was appropriate for the officer to be summonsed to appear at court.
