THE latest housing development in Morecambe's West End has been unveiled with a special plaque to mark the announcement.
Duddon Court at 47/49 West End Road consists of five apartments for sale through Adactus Housing Group's shared ownership scheme which gives first-time buyers in Morecambe a helping hand onto the property ladder.

The properties – originally a seri
es of small flats in very poor condition – required extensive refurbishment including new steel supports, new kitchens, bathrooms, central heating systems and windows as well as plastering and electrics work.

Through Adactus' shared ownership scheme, a three-bedroom ground floor apartment, for example, would cost £55,000 for a 50% share plus £29.09 a week in rent, making it easier for those who are starting out with their first home to get a mortgage. A further three blocks will be developed and ready to purchase over the course of the
year.

A special open day for the public to view the scheme will take place on Sunday, March 2 from 11am to 3pm.

Adactus Housing Group works in partnership with Morecambe Council's 'Winning Back More-cambe's West End' team and is undertaking a range of housing regeneration projects in the West End area.

The development was unveiled by David Kerr, cabinet member for Lancaster City Council with responsibility for housing and housing Regeneration; Peter Loker, corporate director for community services at Lancaster City Council and Adactus Housing Group's director of corporate services, Brian Moran.

n For more information on Adactus' shared ownership schemes in Morecambe please contact Jayne Allison at Adactus on 01942 608715.
