Morecambe FC has revealed its new club crest - and it's already dividing opinion among Shrimps fans.
Designed following consultation with fans, the crest features a large shrimp logo on a red shield - a striking modern version of an emblem associated with the club since the 1960s.

The new crest replaces the traditional town coat of arms, for which copyright control lies with the local authority.

"The new crest makes a bold statement about the club as it moves into its new exciting era," said Peter McGuigan, Morecambe FC chairman.

But fan reaction so far has been divided.

So we at The Visitor would like to know what you think.

Post your comments about the Shrimps' new crest below.

I love the new crest. Simple, classy looking whilst being immediately obvious as to the clubs' nickname.
It will be instantly recognisable and will feature largely i`m sure on everything which the club does now as it goes from strength to strength.
I`m also pleased about the name of the new stadium, but can't help but think if it had have been another company, it could have sounded worse.

Hmmm, let’s stick one big shrimps in the middle of the crest – that’ll work. Terrible!

It wasn't 'terrible' in the 1960s and it wasn't 'terrible' in the 1980s when there was a shrimp on the shirts and everyone was proud of it.
This takes us back to that tradition and does so in a nice, clean, modern and bold way.
I just looked at the globearena.co.uk website and it looks great on the side of the stadium image, working really well with the red struts from the main stand.

Like it a lot.

Globe Arena sounds good as well, yes lucky that the sponsors' name isn't something like "Amalgamated Concrete" - but let's be thankful for that.
