MORECAMBE'S very own Gladiator made a roaring start to her television career on Sunday night.
Kara Nwidobie, who stars as 'Panther' on the revamped Sky One series, lined up alongside her 11 fellow Gladiators to take on the contenders and proved to be a dab hand with the famous 'Pugil-stick'.

Kara, who also works at Total Tots nursery at Total Fitness in Lancaster, was undefeated in the 'Duel' game as she sent both contenders flying off the podium.

The 26-year-old played rugby for Vale of Lune ladies last season and is a former Great Britain discus thrower who competed in the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

The debut episode of Gladiators attracted an impressive viewing audience of 1.5million, the same as for Manchester United's Premier League-winning football match on Sky Sports.

You can see 'Panther' every Sunday night at 6pm on Sky One, in the all-new Gladiators hosted by Ian Wright and Kirsty Gallacher.

What's your view on the use of CCTV?
More the merrier - if you've done nothing wrong, you've nothing to worry about
Only appropriate in certain crime-spot areas
I'd be very worried if we had too many
