JOYRIDERS stole a Ford Fiesta from Union Street in Morecambe, drove it at high speed through the town and then abandoned the burned-out vehicle.
The theft took place some time between 7pm on August 31 and 3.40am on September 1.

A SMALL explosion in a Heysham factory was caused when a chemical reacted with water, according to Lancashire Fire and Rescue.

The minor incident at the Alfa Aesar chemical plant at the Heysham Industrial Park on Wednesday afternoon caused a "splattering" of acid after the boron tribromide reacted with water in a can.

A fire crew was called to the Shore Road factory and remained until the area was declared safe. Nobody was hurt.
