A FLOWERBED in the shape of Morecambe FC's ground has dug up another medal for Lancaster City Council gardeners.
The grounds maintenance team's entry called 'Bring Me Football' won a bronze in the National Flowerbed Competition at the RHS Tatton Flower Show, to follow last year's gold.

The colourful display of flowers in the shape of Christie Park celebrate
d Morecambe FC's achievement in gaining promotion to the Football League.

In the centre of the pitch, a replica of the Eric Morecambe statue looks out over the stands.

"Although we are all slightly disappointed not to have gained a gold for a second year running, it still demonstrates that we are up there with the best in the country at producing stunning floral displays," said Paul Cocker, operations manager of the grounds maintenance team.

Coun Jon Barry, cabinet member with responsibility for City Council (Direct) Services, added: "The team responsible for putting together the display should feel proud of themselves for achieving yet another medal in one of the toughest competitions around.

"One of the joys of the RHS Tatton Flower Show is that it gives us the chance to showcase the district to thousands of people and encourage them to pay us a visit."
