TEN grand is up for grabs for organisations and businesses who want to stage festivals and events in the district in 2009.
Applications are now being invited for Lancaster City Council's Festival Innovations Fund (FIF) – a total of £10,000 to help not-for-profit organisations and the private sector develop unique and innovative festivals or events.

Private sector appl
icants are eligible for up to 50 per cent of total net costs, while voluntary or not-for-profit groups can apply for a maximum of 75 per cent net expenditure.
All proposals should demonstrate a link to one or more of the council's corporate objectives.

Applicants should also be mindful of the council's priority that FIF-funded festivals must be related to the tourism economy.

In addition, applications will be expected to demonstrate good practice in terms of planning, management and promotion of the proposed festival or event.

Application packs are available now by telephoning 01524 582828, or by writing to FIF, Lancaster City Council Cultural Services, Morecambe Town Hall, Marine Road East Morecambe, LA4 5AF. A pack is also available to download at www.lancaster.gov.uk/fif.

Completed application forms must be returned by Friday, October 17, to Katrina Huntington, FIF, Lancaster City Council Cultural Services, Morecambe Town Hall, Marine Road East, Morecambe, LA4 5AF.
