ORGANISERS of a Heysham High 80s school reunion are delighted with the response so far and stunned at one particular piece of news.
The reunion, for all former pupils who attended Heysham High during the 1980s, is set to take place on the evening of Saturday, May 24 at the Carleton.

Co-organiser, Kev Pearson said: "We decided it was time to have another reunion.

"We had a b
ig one in 2002 and we had tremendous feedback from everyone who attended. Six years on, we thought that it would be great to give everyone another chance to catch up.

"It is open to everyone who went to Heysham High during the 80s decade, or friends and partners, and a chance to roll back the years and catch up with old school mates.

"All of the music on the night will be from the 80s and we have booked DJ Trevor Cooke of Harveys fame to DJ on the night. I think he did everyone's 18th and 21st birthday at Harveys during the 80s.

"We have set up a website www.80sSchoolReunion.co.uk with all the details of the reunion."

One particular ex-pupil who got the call via email has made it her mission to be there. Samantha Emmerson left Heysham High in 1985 and then the next year emigrated to Hamilton, Canada.

"Samantha got in touch through Facebook and was very excited about the reunion," says Mark Swindlehurst, co-organiser.

"She left in 1986 with her family and has never been back to Morecambe even though she loves the place. She can't wait to come and see the town and to see her old mates.

"We have other people coming from places such as Scotland and London but I think Sam is travelling the furthest distance by far.
"I just hope the night will be really busy and we can give her a great welcome."
