ALMOST a year to the day since Morecambe's famous win at Wembley, a young man from Heysham will also get the chance to play at our national stadium this Saturday – and on FA Cup final day too.
Drummer Dominic Clayton will perform during the pre-match entertainment before footballers from Portsmouth and Cardiff City stride onto the Wembley turf for the final of the world's greatest domestic cup competition. Dominic and 12 band-mates from internationally-acclaimed percussion group Noise Ensemble have been asked to drum just before the national anthems, and he says it will be a fantastic honour.

"We can't wait, it should be awesome," said Dominic, 25.

"I've never been to Wembley before.

"We've got our own hospitality box too, so we'll be able to watch the game."

Noise Ensemble, who have toured the world performing their spectacular stage show, were chosen after members of the FA saw them play in Russia. We thought we might get to play the Champions' League final in Moscow instead, but never mind!" said Manchester United fan Dominic.

Noise Ensemble will perform an energetic percussion piece specially written by composer Ethan Maltby, on a raised stage on the pitch.

Dominic is also known locally as the former drummer with young Morecambe rock band The Bottlenecks, whose guitarist Paul 'The Rev' James also went on to wider success with Towers of London and The Prodigy.
