A MAN wheeling a baby in a pushchair was threatened with a knife and a schoolgirl was sexually assaulted in two of the most recent attacks on the Lancaster-to-Morecambe cycle path.
Police are now advising people to avoid using the cycle track late at night when it is badly lit and not to use it alone, where possible.
A 16-year-old schoolgirl was sexually assaulted on the path near Asda at around 1am on Saturday, June 13.

She was approached by a man who attempted to strike up a conversation with her. She pushed him away but he then repeatedly touched her buttocks.

The man was described as white, aged 20 to 23 years and of medium build. He had dark stubble and was wearing a light-coloured baseball cap and a dark hooded top bearing a Lacoste logo.

A 41-year-old was wheeling a baby along in a pushchair at around noon on May 22 when he was approached from behind by two men. One pushed his head against the wall, before the other said he had a knife in his pocket and threatened to use it unless the man handed over his money. The pair fled with £95 cash and a wrist watch and Nokia mobile phone, together worth £270.

The first man, pictured in the E-Fit, is described as white, 5ft-9ins and of a thin build, with a gaunt and skeletal face, which was dirty and stubbly. He had a local accent and a broad receding hairline and smelt strongly of alcohol and urine.

He was wearing a black hoodie with the hood up and a peaked cap underneath, dark baggy Adidas tracksuit bottoms and dirty white trainers. The second man was white, 5ft-8ins and of medium build. His face was not seen but he was wearing dark clothing.

A student returning to Lan-caster University from a night out was robbed on the cycle path after getting off a bus back to campus early because he felt sick.

The 19-year-old, who had been at the Carleton night club in Morecambe, was approached by two men on the cycle path near McDonald's on Morecambe Road at around 4am on June 4. They stole his £500 Blackberry phone.

A member of the public later handed in the victim's wallet, which was missing cash and had been found on the one-way system near Pizza Hut, so it was possibly stolen, then discarded.

The first man is described as white, 6ft and of a stocky build.

He wore a white baseball cap bearing a dark logo, a dark coloured hoodie and jeans.

A 40-year-old man temporarily lost his hearing when he was beaten unconscious on the cycle track.

The man, who cannot remember the incident, also suffered injuries to the head, face and body in the assault, which is believed to have occurred between 9pm and 10pm on May 30 near Asda. He needed a day of hospital treatment and did not report the attack to police until June 2.
