THE largest cross bay walk event for 10 years takes place this Sunday, May 11.
Nearly 600 eager walkers from across the north west and beyond will take a stroll across the sands of Morecambe Bay in aid of charity.

The event, organised by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), is the largest to take place for ten years and will be led by Queen's Guide and UCLan Honorary Fellow Cedric Robinson MBE.

"This is certainly one of the largest groups that I've guided across the sands," explained Cedric. "The weather is looking good and the conditions should be ideal for a bracing stroll."

The Harris Bursary Fund, which enables some of Lancashire's brightest but financially disadvantaged students to attend the University, will be the main beneficiary of any monies raised. Additional contributions will go to North West Air Ambulance and LionHeart, the official charity of the Lancashire branch of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Already, in the region of £10,000 has been raised for the three charities with more to come from individual sponsorship.
