MORECAMBE could get a major facelift thanks to a near £1million grant being offered them.
The grant is available under the Heritage Lottery Fund's Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) to upgrade and preserve prominent buildings on the central seafront and the nearby streets.

But council officers have to find match-funding (making nearly £2million in total) from other outside bodies to activate the grant, which will be spent over the five year period of the works.

It is all a continuation of the 'View For Eric' funding which has already seen properties improved in the area immediately opposite the resort's now famous Eric Morecambe statue.

What a great chance for Morrisons who now own that prime piece of land right on the sea front to help out,
how many years have they had it boarded up now and done nothing with it?I take it the council did sell the land or did they give some obscure clause that morrisons do; please buy it, but don't hurry yourself into doing anything with it,any one else fed up with this eyesore?
