FOLLOWING last year's trip back to 1940 – the year Morecambe Bay froze over – we had a visit from Robert and Ann Dugdale of South Road, Morecambe.
Robert kindly lent us some photos taken in January 1940 when temperatures dropped so much, ice floes covered the Bay.

Robert's father Roger Dugdale, who used to own a butcher's in Morecambe town centre (near where Home Bargains is now) also owned a boat.

But as you can see from the pictures, January 1940 wasn't the best time for sailing!

Our photos show Roger and his pals – who the Dugdales say included Norman Todd.

Norman had a gents' outfitters near Skipton Street.

Robert and Ann think one of the other two lads pictured used to work on the fairground at the Winter Gardens car park, but they don't know his name.

Can anyone help identify him and the other chap?
