The first track from a Morecambe band’s new album is available to download for free.
‘No Pasaran!’ signals a departure in sound for The Heartbreaks.
Originally titled ‘The Cowboy Song’, ‘No Pasaran!’s galloping beat and Mariachi brass will spirit you away to the open plains of the Wild West.
No Pasaran means ‘They shall not pass’ and while completely different to the happy guitar pop on their 2012 debut album ‘Funtimes’, it’s still brimful with joy and defiance.
“It’s a song about believing in victory whilst on the brink of defeat and being unrelenting in the pursuit of one’s goal and in one’s commitment to another,” said the band.
“It’s about refusing to die.” The four-piece – Matthew Whitehouse, Joseph Kondras, Ryan Wallace and Chris ‘Deaks’ Deakin – are fresh off two dates supporting Kate Nash and will play free gigs in London (The Miller, November 7) and Manchester (Fallow Cafe, November 8) next month.
