The Heartbreaks, Liar Liar and Dalton – Conah Higgins Cancer Care charity event, The Carleton.

MY mum grew up in early 60s Liverpool and watched in the famous Cavern as The Beatles, Gerry and the Pacemakers and the Merseybeats formed the sound that defined a generation.

And there were times last Saturday night when it felt like 50 years later, right here in Morecambe, our own music scene is entering its own defining era.

The Carleton isn’t quite The Cavern, and it would be hyperbole to compare The Heartbreaks to The Beatles, but our own “fab four” are leading a similar charge of exciting young guitar bands hoping to create a sound that will be identified with Morecambe on the national stage.

The lads performed at a charity gig at the seafront venue on Saturday. And they were sensational, oozing charisma and presence, with tune after great tune in the locker.
