Pint-sized dance superstar Wayne Sleep is enjoying a new lease of life and can’t wait to show a Lancaster audience that he can still pirouette with the best. Our entertainments editor GREG LAMBERT speaks to a true showbiz icon.

WAYNE Sleep is editing together footage from his attic-full of old videos of himself when he picks up the phone.

Energetically cheery, the dance legend explains in his “lovey, darling!” voice that he’s currently “forever preparing” for one of the biggest projects of his action-packed life.

Just one year removed from a total hip replacement operation and thoughts of hanging up the tap shoes and ballet tights for good, the evergreen star is back on the road and back doing what he does best - dancing.

Precious Little Sleep is the self-deprecating name of Wayne’s new live stage show, which he describes as “a career retrospective”.
