Sing for your supper

HEYSHAM’S very own Fry-mon Cowell invited customers to sing for their suppers at his fish and chip shop.

John Wild, charismatic owner of Tarnbrook Chippy on Kingsway, embraced a national competition called The Chip Factor, where fish and chip-lovers could get free food in exchange for belting out a tune.

As you can see from our Wednesday Week cover photo, John took this one stage further by dressing as Tom Jones and rewriting the lyrics to the hit Delilah. He also installed an “autocue” TV screen in his shop, so customers could sing along to the words to his spoof, called Fry, Fry, Fry Potatoes.
