It’s nearly time for the closest thing we have to Glastonbury in North Lancashire and South Cumbria.

It’s nearly time for the closest thing we have to Glastonbury in North Lancashire and South Cumbria.

And while Kendal Calling can’t quite boast The Rolling Stones, it will have Primal Scream, Basement Jaxx, Johnny Marr and The Public Enemy.

The ever-growing Kendal music festival runs from July 26 to 28 at Lowther Deer Park and the lineup is more mouthwatering than ever before.

The Friday night’s main stage will be headlined by Basement Jaxx, Public Enemy and Willy Moon.

Morecambe heroes The Heartbreaks will be alongside an acoustic set from The Lightning Seeds on the Calling Out stage.

The Charlatans, Ash, I Am Kloot and The Twang are the main stage attractions on the Saturday.

Lancaster and Morecambe district acts The Feud, Kriss Foster and Nancy Kent will also be part of Kendal Calling on the Saturday.

Primal Scream take to the main stage on the Sunday, as do Seasick Steve, Johnny Marr, Kodaline and Mystery Jets.

Local acts Joe McCorriston and Katy Pickles will perform that day too.

Tickets are available by calling 0844 888991 or from Waterhouse Clothing in Lancaster.

*Morecambe pop band Idol Minds will top the bill at the Lancaster Music Festival at Vale of Lune Rugby Club on Saturday, July 27.

Rubber Soul, Blackheart Afterglow, comedian Lester Crabtree, Jay Blackburn, Jay Diggins, Green Heart, Thunder Jackson and The Haps are also scheduled.

Admission £5 adults, £3 children from noon to 10pm.
