Festivals move in the right Direction

A One Direction tribute band will headline a summer season of festivals in Morecambe.

Promoter Steve Middlesbrough has salvaged his annual entertainment series after 11th hour talks with funders.

This means a return for popular events including the Morecambe Live Weekend, Country Kickback, BluesWater, Morecambe Jazz and Zombieville.

The One Direction tribute, called Only One Direction, will perform at the Platform on Saturday, May 5.

“We wanted to bring in an excellent tribute to the biggest band in the world,” said Mr Middlesbrough.

“It will be a great Morecambe Saturday night out for the family and we hope people will come along and make a lot of noise.

“It should be a great summer. It’s been advertised later than we would have liked so we need everyone in Morecambe to tell all their friends who are into country, Motown, jazz and zombies!”

The ‘Morecambe Live Series’ will be launched on Easter Saturday in the Arndale Centre.

Festival dates for your diary include:

Morecambe Live Weekender pop music festival: May 5 to 6

Country Kickback country festival: May 24 to 26

BluesWater: June 21 to 23

Morecambe Jazz: July 5 to 7

Tutti Frutti: July 26 to 27

Motown Magic: August 9 to 10

Zombieville: October 11 to 13
