Expect the unexpected when The New Rope String Band help More Music celebrate their 20th anniversary this summer.

There will be fun aplenty when this talented trio play at The Hothouse in Morecambe on June 29.

The New Rope String Band combine superb musicianship with comic genius in a unique show featuring elements of the circus, vaudeville and slapstick with acoustic music from various world traditions including Celtic, bluegrass, cajun, boogie-woogie, Dixieland and classical work.

These maniac minstrels mix favourite routines with ever-evolving new material which can include the use of ladders, contortionism and Morris dancing.

They’ve even been known to include seagull impressions which would be highly appropriate for their Morecambe date.

The New Rope String Band gig is part of the summer More Music Presents season which features headline sets from nationally acclaimed artists with support and collaborations from community bands and local musicians.

More Music has been encouraging and supporting local musicians ever since it was founded in 1993.

On June 29, the local element of the event includes performances by Leap To Your Feet Appalachian Dancers and Paddy Garrigan.

Tickets for the gig are priced £10/£8(concession). For more information and to book, ring 01524 831997 or visit www.moremusic.org.uk
