On a Sunday June afternoon in 1964, group two games in the British Indoor Soccer Championships in association with the Morecambe Festival of Sport were played at the Floral Hall.

An entry of 104 teams ensured the event would be a success. Several local teams did well, but none qualified to go forward to the quarter-finals to be held on July 4, although the venue was not reported.

Teams from as far afield as Preston, Chorley, Bradford, Manchester and Wigan took part. Two of the local teams to participate are pictured here, Lancaster Post Office who lost 0-1 to Deepdale, and Morecambe Electrical Engineering Company (MEECO) who went down 6-7 to Deepdale.
