Drinking a hot beverage isn’t the easiest thing in the world for men with moustaches.

So artists turned entrepreneurs Thomas Birnie and Becky Stevens are offering a solution.

Their new company My Moustache Cup does exactly what it says – it sells mugs designed to keep moustaches dry while drinking tea or coffee.

Thomas, an earthenware potter from Bolton-le-Sands, and Becky, a digital media artist from Morecambe, came up with the idea, appropriately, over a cuppa. A moustache cup is a cup with a semicircular ledge inside, to keep upper lip facial hair away from liquids.

“It was all the rage in the Victorian era,” said Becky.

“We want to bring back the art in tableware. Your cup, plate or bowl need not be the same as everybody else’s, in fact it can be chosen by you and unique to you.”

The creative pair, both 22, are devoting their spare time to the ir online business away from their regular jobs. Thomas works as an art technician at Morecambe Community High School and Becky is a media administrator at LPC Furniture.

Twenty five per cent of their profits will go to Prostate Cancer UK.
