The Lancaster Grand Theatre has announced its September lineup with everything from a female ventriloquist to a tribute to Les Dawson.
Also coming to the city venue that month will be 1970s chart toppers The Real Thing and TV cooking show Celebrity Cook-Off Live.
The autumn season kicks off with Heritage Opera’s ‘The Magic of Opera’ on Wednesday, September 4.
The following night, Broadway Theatre and Cutting The Strings present a new comedy play based on Les Dawson’s comic TV characters, starring the actor who played Ashley Peacock in Coronation Street.
Steven Arnold and fellow former Corrie fave Eric Potts (Diggory Compton) join Spitting Image’s Steve Nallon, famed for his Margaret Thatcher impressions, in ‘Cissie and Ada: An Hysterical Rectomy’, which brings Dawson and his sidekick Roy Barraclough’s creations back to life.
The men behind such hits as ‘You To Me Are Everything’ and ‘Can’t Get By Without You’, Liverpool’s The Real Thing, will play live at the Grand on Saturday, September 7, celebrating 40 years in the music business. Live at the Apollo star Nina Conti brings her outrageous ventriloquism skills to Lancaster on Sunday, September 15 while Celebrity Cook Off Live is on September 24. Also starring at the Grand are Scorton singer Jay Diggins (September 20), French Can Can (September 21), comedian Stewart Lee (September 25) and Cbeebies’ Sid’s Show (September 28).
