Superbugs have plenty to feed off

ON the morning of Monday, July 28, I took my husband to the Accident and Emergency department of the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
On entering the reception area we were shocked to see discarded food cartons and drink cans littering the seating and floor. We were also shocked to see discarded tissues on a window ledge in the children's play area.
And in the consultation area, the floor was dirty and blood-stained and the bottoms of the cubicle dividers were thick with accumulated dust and debris.
I paid a visit to the patients' toilet and immediately wished that I
hadn't!
The toilet was in a disgusting state and there was faeces and urine on the floor.
We spent more than three hours at the unit and not a cleaner in sight!
What has happened to the much-publicised government initiatives devised to improve standards of hygiene in our hospitals?
