WITH reference to your article in The Visitor of July 2, before the Midland was re-vamped, I was speaking to someone from Urban Splash at the viewing of the designs for this new development and I told him we wanted the Midland re-vamped but not the flats on the sea side of the promenade.
He told me we could not have one without the other, as the hotel would never make the money to redevelop and run it. I took this to mean that the flats would be the money-making part of the package.

The time to stop this was then – I'd like to bet that the council has already signed on the dotted line and all protests will be to no avail.
The Midland was always the carrot, now we are getting the stick.

However, I still say as I did then that just because you have enough money to rent or buy a property with the best view in the country, the rest of us should not have to suffer the loss of this view.

Build the flats on the site where Frontierland used to be, it's close to the Midland and still has the sea views, but it won't spoil it for
everyone else.
