Park out of step with prom push

LOCAL shopkeepers have been urged to make an effort in sprucing up to reflect the opening of the Midland Hotel and to provide a pleasing environment for our new visitors to enjoy when they sally forth from their Art Deco magnificence.
On walking round Happy Mount Park this morning, I was intrigued to see the council's novel contribution to this effort; a sight I've never seen anywhere else.
There was hardly an inch of space not covered by dandelions, burdock, stinging nettles, bindweed, etc. Even the disabled parking signs outside the fence were obliterated by yard-high weeds, exploding with seedheads (handy for next year's display).
How original to provide 10 acres of vegetation our new visitors will never have seen in their posh Cheshire parks! Perhaps a few Latin name tags could be attached, to flutter in the breeze and make an interesting talking point when the visitors return home and pass their holiday snaps around the bridge parties at Wilmslow.
