COME on residents of Morecambe! How many of you have driven down the promenade and looked at the dilapidated buildings, empty properties and shops?
Times are a-changing here in Morecambe and this is all being made possible by Urban Splash and our forward-thinking council.

I cannot understand why anybody would wish the demise of The Midland Hotel – this is just the start of a very bright futu
re for Morecambe Bay.

There are new shops opening along the promenade, regeneration of the run-down areas, new businesses involved in Making Morecambe Great in 2008 and extremely positive reports in national newspapers.

There is nowhere in the world (and I have travelled far and wide) that could rival the views and the backdrop for our sunset with those endless rolling hills of the Lake District – this town deserves to be restored to its former glory but with a modern-day twist.

I do agree with Evelyn Archer that we should not be blocking our views over Morecambe Bay with seven-storey buildings; however, fighting against progress will not help to rebuild our beautiful seaside resort.

I believe that all the new developments in Morecambe can only enhance this wonderful little town, with its quaint surrounding
villages, award-winning schools and people who are friendly and passionate about their home town.

Let's work together and make Morecambe rival any seaside town in the UK.
