FIRST and foremost, I am in favour of money coming in to Morecambe to help a sad and declining town to perk up.
And I have read with interest the letters and opinions about the flats, etc, to be built at the side of the Midland Hotel on the widest area of the prom.

I don't think Woolworths and Hitchens are looking at a view across the bay as, for years, their outlook was our Super Swimming Stadium – one of the many attractions here that sadly went kaput.

I understand that we would eventually lose the concrete bunker of The Dome.

Why that arrived I will never know, when maybe the money could have gone into a beautiful theatre across the road. (A sideline suggestion – can the Winter Gardens have the seats so maybe a white elephant can start having shows like The Dome? Even if they used only the stalls area it would be of use).

Is it not time to wake up to the reality that a new 21st Century town is better than the various dilapidated 'bomb sites'?

New attractions and money are wanted. Heaven knows, there has been very little money invested here for many a long year.
