Storeys trounce TIC rivals

In the Premier Division, the race for the championship is hotting up with both favourites winning their games with ease.
Champions Marsh United initially struggled against Slyne with Hest (LCC) but eventually rallied to secure a 5-2 win.
In the first half, Steve Parkinson bagged a rare goal for Marsh, while Lee Davies scored for Slyne. Slyne made a disastrous start to the second half as Simon Marshall netted within 15 seconds.
Marsh soon grew in confidence. Further strikes from Lee Fox and Dave Shorrocks followed by a Jonathon Pedder brace made it 5-1. Paul Gill grabbed a late consolation for Slyne.
The match of the day was between second-placed TIC Dynamos and title favourites Storeys.
The opening 20 minutes was tight but Storeys raced into a 4-0 lead by half-time. Steve Miller, Chris Parkes, Andy Sanderson and Bob Eccles found the net.
The second half was closer as Dynamos were awarded two penalties. The first spot-kick was missed but Paul Gribbin converted the second.
Storeys substitute Chris Hobbs made it 5-1 and this win moves them to within one point of Dynamos.
League leaders Carnforth Rangers also stumbled and only managed to snatch a point against lowly Caton United.
Caton started brightly and took the lead when Darren Green scored from the spot. Things got better for Caton when Jimmy Bargh made it 2-0 with a great goal.
But the pendulum swung in Carnforth's favour when Caton were reduced to 10 men.Matthew Garwood reduced the arrears before Gavin Darby made it 2-2.
Carnforth attacked in numbers and Caton had to thank stand-in keeper Dave Bamford for making a few superb saves.
However, Highgrove had no such trouble and cruised to a formidable 9-1 victory against Swarthmoor Social Club.
Carl Pickles completed a hat-trick and Tony Palluca bagged a brace. Craig Holme, Dan Broadley, Luke Ogley and David Graham also found the net.
John Boast grabbed a consolation for Swarthmoor as they suffered their worst defeat since joining the league.
Kirkby Lonsdale secured three much-needed points when they beat Morecambe Royals 2-1.
Youngster Matty Longden scored a superb goal for Kirkby, while Andy Metcalfe grabbed a second. Stuart Talbot netted for Morecambe Royals.
Ingleton cruised into the semi-final of the Adam and Gaskell Senior Challenge Cup after thumping Galgate 5-1.
Ingleton took the lead when Jack Bland scored in a goalmouth scramble.
They soon increased their lead to 3-0 with goals from Phil Eccleston and Bland but Craig Cottam reduced the deficit to 3-1 just before half-time.
After the break, Teddy Harrison and Chris Bibby completed the scoring for Ingleton.
Meanwhile, Storeys Reserves beat Bentham 3-1 and reached the final of the Division One Holdens Solicitors/Gibson Cup.
Storeys took the lead as man-of-the-match Steven Creed beat three defenders and gave Paul Fraser a simple tap-in.
Creed turned from provider to scorer four minutes later, while David Leslie slotted home a third for Storeys after just 20 minutes.
Bentham improved and substitute Tomi Tatham notched a consolation in injury time.
In Division One, high-fliers Halton Rangers only snatched a draw against lowly College AFC.
Adam Lund scored for Halton with Wayne Dixon replying for the College side.
Meanwhile, Morecambe Hoops had to settle for a draw against a good Boys Club side.
The Hoops racedinto a 2-0 lead with goals from Des Martinez and Kevin Burns.
But Boys Club piled on the pressure after the break and the lively Liam Parkinson scored a brace to give his side a point.
Marsh United Reserves gave their hopes of avoiding relegation a huge boost when they comfortably beat fellow strugglers Slyne-Hest (LCC) A 4-0.
Marsh Reserves made all the running from the start as veteran Jason Barlow and Robert Reay bagged two goals apiece.
Morecambe Royals Reserves started well against Millhead despite losing 3-2.
After Ryan Greenland scored for Millhead against the run of play, Dominic Wooff doubled their lead.
Although Nathan Durham scored a quick double in reply for the Royals, Darren Maudsley scored a late penalty to hand Millhead victory.
In a game of two halves, Vine FC were held to a draw by Westgate Wanderers.
Simon Ball broke the deadlock for Vine, while a James Heath long-range free-kick doubled their lead. David Barlow and Lee Holman netted after the break in reply for Westgate.
In Division Two, Morecambe Cricket Club faced a tricky trip to Swarthmoor Reserves after losing form in recent weeks.
They battled hard to a 3-1 win with Graeme Cassidy netting twice. Anthony Turner ensured victory for the Cricket Club, while Swarthmoor's Vinny Marr derservedly scored late on.
Freehold continued their recent good form with a hard fought 2-0 win over a plucky Kirkby Lonsdale Reserves.
Second-half strikes from Dean Robinson and Jimmy Watters gave Freehold a deserved win.
Highgrove Reserves got back to winning ways after travelling to strugglers Burton Thistle.
Highgrove clinched a comfortable 5-0 win with goals from Ian Monks, Kevin Jago, Jamie Lothian, Peter Myerscough and Joe Oldrieve.
Bottom club Torrisholme Reserves gained only their fifth point when they held fifth placed Arnside to a draw.
Luke Gorst scored twice for Arnside with Joel Crookes and Daniel Syson replying for Torrisholme.
In Division Three, Arnside Reserves secured an excellent 4-1 win over Gregson FC.
James Kirkham completed a superb hat-trick and a goal from Mark Smith ensured victory for Arnside. Dominic Williams scored a late goal for Gregson.
Promotion-chasing Galgate Reserves lost their second game running 2-0 to rivals Overton. A Paul Craig strike and an own goal took Overton to victory.
In Division Four, Halton Rangers Reserves moved to top spot and ran riot with a 7-0 win over Ingleton A.
Richard McDonnell grabbed a hat-trick and Chris Lee scored a brace for Halton. Steven Leaming and Tom Parkinson also hit the target.
The most exciting game of the day was between Villa Royale and Gregson Reserves.
Dale Shinwell scored two great goals for Villa Royale and gave them a 2-0 win.
Bentham Reserves beat Burton Thistle Reserves 2-1 with Rob Wood and Jason Barlow scoring for Bentham.
Meanwhile, College AFC Reserves and Moghuls FC drew 3-3 in a thrilling match.
Veteran David Cross bagged a brace, while Phil Huddart scored once for College. Moghuls replied through Kabir Patel, Alex Agagbadian and Yassim Maje.
